FrameRef 1.0.4 introduces a brand new Notes system, audio support, several workflow improvements, and a large number of quality-of-life fixes throughout the application.

Use the Check for Updates action in the Help menu, or download directly:

The new Note item lets you add rich text, to-do lists, images, and GIFs directly to your boards. Whether you’re planning a project, collecting feedback, or simply organizing ideas, Notes make it easy to keep everything in one place.

You can now add audio files to your boards. This is perfect for voice memos, sound references, or music. If you add multiple audio files to a FrameRef group, you can enable cycling so it cycles through all the audio files.

Items can now be locked to prevent them from being accidentally moved or transformed, making it easier to keep important layouts intact while working.

The Trim Editor can now export image sequences, making it easier to create frame-by-frame references from videos.

Copy file URLs directly from the right-click menu, or hold Ctrl while dragging multiple selected items out of FrameRef to quickly use them in other applications.

Playback controls now include shortcuts for jumping 10 frames backward or forward, making frame-by-frame review faster.

A new notification system provides clearer feedback when performing actions throughout FrameRef.

You can now use Shift + Delete to remove an item from both the canvas and the board folder in one action.

Windows users can now keep FrameRef above other applications using the new Always on Top button in the window header.

The Image LOD cache location can now be configured from Preferences, giving you more control over storage.

Text items have been improved with better creation, resizing, text wrapping, and alignment for a smoother editing experience.

You can now copy files between boards, and it also transfers their linked files, making it much easier to move work between boards.

When updating FrameRef, the installer remembers the previous installation location.

The yt-dlp binaries used for downloading videos from social media platforms have been updated to the latest version.

Some videos from YouTube are encoded with a bad codec, for example AV1. In those cases, after the download finishes they are automatically re-encoded to work in FrameRef and keep the board smooth.

Fixed several issues affecting video playback, including incorrect audio pitch at different playback speeds, videos pausing when clicking the seek bar repeatedly, Trim Editor startup time synchronization, and the playback speed dropdown scroll direction.

Fixed a crash that could occur when repeatedly clicking the Trim Editor seek bar, along with issues affecting fullscreen mode.

Improved canvas performance when resizing boards containing only video items.

Fixed swapped horizontal and vertical flip icons, along with incorrect hover hint colors on macOS.
