One of the main advantages of FrameRef is its support for multiple mediums and formats, including images, videos, GIFs and PDFs. Let's explore them all!
One of the main advantages of FrameRef is its support for multiple mediums and formats. Explore them below:
Images are the foundation of every reference board in FrameRef.
You can import them from anywhere by dragging and dropping from your file explorer, browser, or clipboard, or by using URLs.
FrameRef supports all common formats such as JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and WebP.
FrameRef supports embedded video playback directly within your boards.
You can import video files the same way as images by dragging and dropping them into the canvas.
Once imported, you can:
- Play, pause, and scrub through frames using the built-in playback controls.
- Control the playback speed.
- Control the audio output.
- Trim them to get only the parts you want.
- Extract specific frames as still images for comparison.
Supported video formats include MP4, MOV, AVI, and WEBM.
FrameRef also supports animated GIFs. They behave exactly like videos and share the same playback controls.
They are ideal for showing motion, expressions, or quick animation loops without needing full video files.
FrameRef allows you to import multipage PDF files, making it easy to reference documents, design guides, or art books directly inside your board.
Once imported, you can switch between pages or browse and select a specific page from the Page Selector.
You can add audio files to your boards. This is perfect for voice memos, sound references, or music.
If you add multiple audio files to a FrameRef group, you can enable cycling so it cycles through all the audio files.
Mixed media boards
Section titled “Mixed media boards”You can freely mix images, videos, GIFs, PDFs, and audio within the same board.
