FrameRef 1.1.0

FrameRef 1.1.0 is our first major update. It introduces our first AI features, voice memos, mind map functionality, portals, a customizable toolbar, and several bug fixes.

You can use the Check for Updates action in the Help menu to download and install FrameRef 1.1.0, or download directly:

These days, more and more people are getting used to having AI as part of their workflow. To make sure you don’t need to leave FrameRef to edit your images with AI, we added a couple of basic AI features directly into FrameRef.

Select one or several images in your canvas and run the new Tag Selected Images action. This automatically adds a few search tags to your selected images, so you can easily find them in the FrameRef search.

Select 1–5 images, hit the AI Edit button, and then you can use Image Edit to edit existing images using a text prompt while preserving composition.

Through the FrameRef search, you can now find the Image Gen tool. Give a description of what you want, and that picture will be generated for you.

Select 1 or more images, hit the AI Edit button, and then you can use Image Try-On to virtually fit one or more garments onto a person’s photo. This model needs a prompt that explains what you want to do, plus a person image and a garment image. You can drag and drop images between the person and garment fields, and hold Ctrl and drag images from the board onto the AI editor window.

Select 1 image, hit the AI Edit button, and then you can use Image Upscale to upscale the existing image to a target resolution. Max 128 MP.

Through the FrameRef search, you can now find the Video Animate tool. Add an image you want to animate, and also the video you want to use as reference.

As it costs us money to run any of these AI features, we have also introduced a credit system. From the new AI menu in FrameRef, you can go to our new AI platform website, where you can view basic info on the available models and open the Dashboard to create an account, add funds, see transactions, and more.

Once you have an account, you can choose between different one-time credit purchases. Once chosen, a pop-up window appears where you can complete your purchase. Once it is completed and your funds have been added to your account, you can start using the AI features in FrameRef.

If you hover over any FrameRef item, you will see a blue dot appear. Drag from this dot to connect several items together.

To make it easier to navigate large boards, we added a new item type: Portals. This feature lets you create a portal at location A and a linked portal at location B.

Once you have opened Portal Mode, you can pan with middle-mouse drag, zoom with scroll, and then place the first and second portal using the left mouse button.

Once they have been placed, select a portal and either hit T or the teleport button in the context-sensitive menu to teleport to the second portal. If you need to adjust the pan or zoom for a portal, update it with the square-with-a-dot icon in the context-sensitive menu.

You can now record voice memos directly in FrameRef. Find it in the FrameRef search. In the voice memo window, you can:

  • Start and stop the recording.
  • Play the recording.
  • Trash the recording.
  • Adjust the input volume.
  • Adjust the input device.
  • Trim the recorded voice with the yellow brackets.

If you aren’t a fan of the default actions in the toolbar, you can now hit the gear icon to adjust it to your liking. Find all the available actions by category or by search, then drag and drop your favorites into slots 0–9.

The options to jump X frames forward and backward now use bigger steps. We made the jump 5 seconds for videos and 10 frames for other sequence items like PDFs and GIFs. We will expand this further in future releases.

  • You can now select an existing drawing before opening Draw Mode, and then continue drawing in the same session.
  • You can merge multiple existing drawings with the new merge icon.

  • You can now adjust the color of existing drawings from the context-sensitive menu.

By right-clicking on a video, you can now find Go to Time, where you can enter the exact time in the video you want to go to.

When pressing I on the keyboard to show item info on the board, video items now show more metadata (fps, number of frames, bitrate, etc.).

In the context-sensitive menu, you can now find the option to Edit Label.

You can now remove and replace shortcuts in the preferences without issues. A new dialog window has been introduced to let you easily handle conflicts.

Text Notes are now created with proper scale, regardless of zoom on the board.

You can now crop videos without bugs.
